Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding was introduced by the Government in order to address the attainment gap between different groups of pupils. The money is sent to schools based in the numbers of pupils in the school who eligible for free school meals (FSM), are in care (CLA) or, from 2012, whose parents are in the Armed Forces. From 2012-13, this has been expanded to include all children who have been eligible for FSM in the last 6 years. This money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional funding given to schools to support pupils who may face disadvantage and help close the achievement gap.

Who is it for?

Pupils who:

  • Have ever received free school meals (FSM)
  • Are looked after or adopted from care
  • Are from Service families

How is it used?

1. Teaching

  • Staff training and professional development to improve teaching and learning for all pupils.

2. Academic Support

  • Targeted help to overcome barriers to learning, such as tutoring or small group support.

3. Wider Approaches

  • After school enhancement clubs
  • Music lessons
  • Help with trip costs
  • Various therapies to support progression

These approaches help build confidenceresilience, and aspiration, and often benefit all pupils.

Accountability

We publish an annual Pupil Premium Strategy and Impact Statement so:

  • Parents understand how the funding supports pupils
  • Governors can review evidence-based decisions
